Brrr part 2
Another “snow” day due to the cold temps this morning, but it was back to the office for me. It was a good day at work today.
After work I stopped at the dentist to pick up Zac while Nicole stayed with Parker for his appointment. Nicole made orange chicken and rice tonight for dinner….it was a swing and a miss. So we ended up eating cereal 🤣. Per Nicole, “Friday we’re eating out or ordering something in!” That’s the good thing about us cooking meals most nights though, we can figure out what we like and keep trying new things.
After dinner we let the boys play by themselves for a while. It’s fun to just sit in the next room and listen to them play and talk to each other. They are getting to a good age where they can play together on their own and actually have fun instead of arguing. They make each other laugh and make up elaborate “pretend” stories. It’s always entertaining!
Happy Friday Eve….

Happy 3rd Birthday, Zachary!
Zachary turned 3 years old today!
It’s hard to believe it’s been 3 years since Nicole woke up and said it felt like she was having some contractions, but still decided to go into work. Then early that afternoon she sent me a text that said “I’m heading to the hospital now” so I Skyped my Director to let him know and he told me to “Go! Go! Go! Keep me posted” haha. And I remember walking into the hospital room to see Nicole already having some REALLY big contractions. A few hours later Zachary entered into the world, a perfect little guy!
On Saturday we cleaned up the house a little bit and prepared for Zac’s birthday party. We had his party later that afternoon. It was 55 degrees outside with full sun so we were actually able to open up the back door to let some fresh air in. I think Zac had a blast at his party! (Lots of pictures posted at the end of the blog)
This morning Zac and Parker played with Zac’s new toys from his birthday for a while. Then Zac and Nicole went out to Kohl’s to return Zac’s shoes that we gave him for his birthday for a bigger size…growing so fast! It was another amazing day of weather for the beginning of January (mid-50’s and plenty of sun) so we all spent as much time outside as we could. Nicole took the boys “exploring” down in our woods, while Amie and I relaxed on the back patio. They came back to the house to get some snacks and some supplies to go explore some more. I went with them the second time and it was great being in the woods and going on an adventure. I’m sure you can imagine the type of adventure with two toddler boys…pick up every rock, jump over every fallen tree, try to find as many bugs as possible, “can we go in the creek??”, “do you think there are any bears in the trees??”….I was pretty sure we weren’t going to see any bears, but I checked anyway 🙂
This evening we told Zac that he could pick whatever he wanted for his birthday dinner. He said he wanted to go to a restaurant and picked “the place where we can watch them make pizza”…so we headed to Dewey’s Pizza. Both Parker and Zac loved watching them toss the dough and laughed when the Dewey’s workers threw flour against the glass at them. It was a great birthday dinner!
Tonight we let Zac blow out candles on his leftover cookie cake since today’s his actual birthday. And we gave him one last present…a new shirt with a cape on the back (he loves the cape shirts).
It was a full weekend! I tried to take in and enjoy every minute of it because I know how fast these days go by….
Below are a bunch of pictures from Saturday and today. I hope anyone that reads this enjoys looking at them 🙂

Hootie!
Hootie and the Blowfish are back!!
(already starting tonight on Fallon!)
I’ve been waiting/hoping for this day!
Darius Rucker announced today that Hootie and the Blowfish will be going on a 44 city tour, and will release a new album in 2019. Touring along with them will be Barenaked Ladies…90’s kids rejoice!
Here’s an article from Rolling Stones about the announcement: Hootie and the Blowfish Announce First Tour in More Than a Decade
Hootie’s music brings to mind some great memories of sitting outside Starbucks with a couple of my friends (Zac and Kyle) during our Summer break back in our college days, just jamming on our acoustic guitars. One of Kyle’s signature songs was “Let Her Cry”!
The three of us would meet at that Starbucks nearly every day during the summer to play guitar, make our weekend plans, and talk about our future. It’s hard to believe that was over a decade ago!
And so of course the three of us immediately started texting once we heard the news. It didn’t take long to find out they were coming to our city and figure out that we could get presale tickets.
Can’t wait until July 2019!!
So here’s a few hits to reminisce 🤘
“She sits alone by a lamp post…”
“I only wanna be with you…”
